Our First Market Day!

Our First Market Day!

We had our first market day!✨

This Saturday, we had our first market day at Witney Fine Food & Craft Market and although it turned out to be a slower day than we hoped, we’re choosing to see the beauty in the experience.

The sun was shining and incredibly hot, which definitely brought its own challenges for a candle business! We found ourselves slightly worried about keeping the candles cool enough throughout the day and making sure everything stayed looking its best in the heat.

It was a late evening the night before, preparing everything, carefully packing the last few market exclusive gift boxes and worrying in case we forgot something - even though we weren't entirely sure what we would need and wouldn't need but that's all part of the experience. We were feeling nervous, grateful and excited all at the same time!

Luckily, we had already practiced our display setup at home, which made the early morning setup feel much smoother and less stressful. Having an idea of the layout in beforehand really helped everything come together on the day.

One of the best parts of attending markets is being able to meet people face-to-face. Hearing "wow these smell amazing", all the wonderful comments, talking about our business and how it began and the wonderful opportunity for people to experience our candles in person.

Looking back to when we first attended a candle-making workshop, where simple idea of starting our own candle business started, it now feels surreal to have completed our very first market as GLÓA! What started as a small idea and creative spark has slowly grown into something real, and for that we feel incredibly grateful. Moments like these remind us how far we’ve already come and make us even more excited for what's to come.

Running a small business will come with highs and lows, and markets are apparently always unpredictable - which we've already learnt. Some days are busy and full of energy, while others are quieter and give you time to reflect and learn. Even though it was slow, we’re still incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to be there and share our products with you.

We know growth doesn't happen overnight and building a brand rooted in intention and sustainability takes time. Every market, whether busy or quiet, is helping us learn and grow.

Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by our stall, supported us online, shared our content and the other market sellers for the advice! Your support means more than you know, and it truly helps small businesses like ours continue to grow.

We can't wait for our next market which is at the Witney Fine Food & Craft Market 25th July 2026.
